Luigi Auriemma has built a great tool called Proxocket, which can be used to capture calls between an application and the Winsock functions in Windows. Proxocket is simply two DLL files (ws2_32.dll and wsock32.dll) which should be placed in the same directory as the .exe of the application for which you wanna monitor network traffic. These DLL files act as proxies to the real Winsock DLL files (with the same names), which reside in "C:\Windows\System32\". Placing Luigi's proxy DLLs in the same folder as the .exe file causes the application to load the proxy DLLs rather than the real Winsock DLLs. Proxocket relays all packets between the application and the real Winsock DLLs, but every relayed packet is also written to a .cap file by Proxocket.

Proxocket is a dll proxy project for the main Winsock functions which allows to capture any type of packet and data sent/received by a specific software of your choice and optionally modifying its content or the connect, bind and accept functions through a custom dll very easy to create.
My own experience with proxocket is as follows: After installing the ws2_32.dll from proxocket into a directory containing 3 binaries that communicate with each other over the loopback interface and starting them all up, it generated 3 separate capture files, one for each process, which I was then able to merge together into a single capture file using mergecap. After filtering out the duplicate packets in the file, which contained the source IP address of 0.0.0.0, I had a pretty good capture file containing loopback traffic on Windows. Some packets were clearly ordered incorrectly, but it was easy enough for me to spot them and tell what was going on. 2ff7e9595c
